Renewable Energy Companies

I was thinking about feeling out different renewable energy companies for cost, top quality products, customer service etc.

I was thinking about sending the same ready to move house plan to all of them and getting a quote.

I'm not familiar with all the companies that service my area however.

Any suggestions would I should be asking for a quote?  Name and contact info would be great!

I was familiar with Solar Outpost in Saskatoon and have received a quote from them on ground source heat pumps, grey water recycling, and photovoltaics.

Basically I want to put out to green energy companies: how would you power my house?!

Water Wells - Any Green things I SHOULD KNOW??

We are in the process of choosing a site for our "greener" home, but one of the first issues is water.
In this case we need to drill a well.  The output is not optimistic in our area and may be a barrier.

We are working with a trusted company for our area and seem to be cost effective.

I'm just wondering when drilling a new well are there any green consdierations I should be making with the well; but also water use / distribution systems have come sharply into focus because of our potential shortage of clean drinkable water?

It's funny to have to consider a shortage of water but river systems are limited, expensive to use, and need heavy treatments due to upstream industrial activies.

Aquifers are only in certain areas, and some seem to have water that leaves stains and emits odours.

The Start....

I would like to build a green home on the Alberta - Saskatchewan Border and I have NO idea where to start!

So I thought I would blog about this crazy idea from start to finish and hopefully along the way connect with like minded people and learn a whole lot from you (commenters and blog watchers) along the way!

Maybe together we can all make it a little bit easier and more successful to go green . . . or at least try!

Because right now where do you start?!
